For the person who was concerned about their plot being too close to the Hunger Games: The Hunger Games was literally an updated version of Spartacus. There is nothing new under the sun. V for Vendetta, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, The Long Walk, ALL of those explored those very same themes. Don't give up just because you find something similar to what you're writing. There's ALWAYS going to be something similar. |
| aladyvainglorious | For anybody interested, the first book to deal with such a dystopia was We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. It’s a great book that I highly recommend. More on topic, yes there is going to be something similar if you look at the most general aspects of a story, but that doesn’t mean that you should copy specifics or try to publish your fanfiction. |
